Understanding Your Skin

Everyone's skin is different. Genetics and ethnicity influence many of our natural skin characteristics, but our skin isn't static. It can change throughout life in response to age, hormones, environment, lifestyle, health, medication and the skincare products we use.

Your skin type describes the general way your skin behaves. It may be normal/balanced, dry, oily or combination. Skin can also be sensitive or reactive, which can occur alongside any skin type. Although we may naturally be more prone to a particular skin type, oil production, hydration and sensitivity can change over time.

Your skin concerns are the things you notice about your skin or would like to improve. These might include breakouts and congestion, pigmentation and uneven tone, fine lines and ageing, redness and sensitivity, scarring and uneven texture, or loss of firmness. It's very common to have more than one concern at the same time.

Understanding both your skin type and your current concerns helps us choose treatments and homecare that are appropriate for your skin. Rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach, we can adapt your treatment plan as your skin changes.

Not sure what your skin needs?

That's completely normal. Your therapist can assess your skin, discuss your concerns and help you choose the most appropriate treatments and homecare.

Know Your Skin Type

UNDERSTAND HOW YOUR SKIN BEHAVES TO HELP GUIDE YOUR TREATMENT CHOICES.

Skin Types_edited.jpg

Normal / Balanced Skin

Generally feels comfortable and balanced, without persistent dryness or excessive oiliness. Pores tend to be relatively fine and breakouts may only occur occasionally.

Skin Types_edited.jpg

Dry Skin

Produces less sebum and may feel tight, rough or flaky. It can be more prone to loss of comfort and may become noticeably drier as we age.

Oily Skin

Produces more sebum and may appear shiny, particularly through the T-zone. Enlarged-looking pores, blackheads, congestion and breakouts can also occur.

Combination Skin

Has characteristics of more than one skin type, commonly an oilier forehead, nose and chin with normal or drier cheeks.

Sensitive / Reactive Skin

Skin that reacts easily and may experience redness, stinging, itching or discomfort. Sensitivity can occur alongside dry, oily or combination skin.

Your skin type is only part of the picture. The treatments we recommend are based on your skin type, your current concerns and what you'd like to improve.
