Aftercare
After a PRO skin treatment, the skin is typically more sensitive and requires special care to ensure optimal results. Here’s what you should consider:
1. Avoid Sun Exposure
After a skin treatment, the skin can be more sensitive to UV rays. It's important to wear a high SPF sunscreen (minimum SPF 30) and avoid direct sun exposure for at least 24-48 hours.
2. If Possible No Makeup for 24 Hours
If you can allow the skin to breathe and recover after the treatment. Makeup, especially heavy foundations, can clog pores and negate the effects of the facial treatment.
3. Avoid Touching or Picking the Skin
The skin may feel sensitive, and touching or picking can introduce bacteria and lead to breakouts or irritation.
4. Stay Hydrated
Drink plenty of water to help the skin stay hydrated and assist with detoxification, which can enhance the facial’s effects.
5. Avoid Harsh Skincare Products
Stay away from exfoliants (scrubs, AHAs, BHAs), retinoids, and other strong actives for at least 48 hours post-treatment. The skin needs time to recover and may react to these products.
6. Skip Strenuous Activity
Avoid excessive sweating from intense exercise or saunas for 24 hours, as this can clog pores or irritate the skin.
7. Avoid Hot Showers or Steam
Your skin may be more sensitive to heat. Hot showers or steam can lead to redness or irritation.
8. Use Gentle, Hydrating Products
Opt for calming and hydrating products (e.g., hyaluronic acid serums, light moisturisers) to soothe the skin. Avoid anything that may cause irritation.
9. No Extractions or Peels for 1-2 Weeks
Give your skin time to recover from the facial before undergoing any other invasive treatments.
10. Follow the Aesthetician’s Recommendations
Your aesthetician will often suggest a specific post-skin care routine, which may include specific products suited to your skin type and concerns.
By adhering to these contraindications and aftercare recommendations, you can ensure that your facial treatment is safe, effective, and beneficial for your skin health.
ADDITIONAL ADVICE
PRO skin treatemnts are an external way to detoxify. When you detoxify, your body rids itself of toxins and impurities, oftentimes through the skin. Getting rid of toxins can boost energy and leave your skin looking luminous but before this you may first experience some pimples or rashes as toxins release through the skin. It is normal to get some mild redness immediately after treatment.
SKINCARE ADVICE
Your skin works hard to keep you healthy, and you can return the favour by looking after it. Top Tips:
Use an SPF: Sunlight contains ultraviolet (UV) rays, which are the main cause of skin ageing and can cause skin cancer.
Stop smoking: Smoking is one of the main environmental factors in premature skin ageing by breaking down and preventing the production of new collagen. Smoking also causes the tiny blood vessels in the skin to constrict, reducing the supply of oxygen to the skin.
Cut down your alcohol consumption: When you drink alcohol, your body and skin can become dehydrated, leaving the skin looking older and tired.
Eat a healthy diet and drink plenty of water.
Follow a skin care routine to nourish and treat your skin. Ask your skin care professional what products would be best suited to protect and improve your skin. Cleanse morning and night. Exfoliate. Use a mask, eye cream and skin appropriate moisturiser.
If you experience a reaction to your treatment that continues for more than 24 hours please see your GP.
